Serenade Art Brunch

  • Jacobsen Salt Co 602 Southeast Salmon Street Portland, OR, 97214 United States (map)

Come celebrate WOMEN -- their businesses, food, and music -- with us on May 12th when Serenade partners with Divine PDX, a collective that advocates equality in the arts.

Can you think of a better way to celebrate women than to hold a female focused arts event over Mother’s Day weekend?!? We certainly can’t.

Join us on May 12th for a brunch feast followed by an intimate concert held in an art gallery in celebration of female makers. Our featured chef is Risa Lichtman of Lepage Food and Drinks. Risa is passionate about community building through food, working with local growers, and creating a more sustainable food system through intentional dining - and of course, making downright delicious food. She has been cooking in restaurants throughout Portland, San Francisco, and New York for over a decade. Risa uses food as a means to highlight women and other marginalized populations in and around the food industry, and works toward breaking down current kitchen norms to create more just and diverse kitchens and dining experiences. Enjoy multiple artfully crafted courses at this brunch feast!

Our featured musician is Portland native, Moorea Masa. The daughter of an Italian immigrant father and an African-American mother born abroad, this singer/songwriter/guitarist has been making music for as long as she can remember. Her newest album Shine A Light, comes from the depths of a sometimes-troubled childhood and expresses a belief that the unexamined life is not worth living. "I'm really sharing my whole heart in this album," says Moorea. "This year I've really been digging deep into my history, my own learning lessons, and the state of the world. I feel like I took a light and shined it into all the darkness and beauty that I was too scared to look at."

Divine PDX is a showcase celebrating Portland’s diverse female artist community. The mission of this two day event is to create a platform for equality, conversation and change. Through the power of art and community, they are empowering badass humans to close the gap in social norms, together. Over the course of two days, there will be art exhibits, a speaker panel, and an art brunch. This is where we come in….

Serenade is a pop-up series featuring chefs and musicians in unique settings to create a sensory experience unlike anything else. Equal focus is placed on both the chefs and musicians to break down barriers and foster participation and community. Held in the art gallery, this Serenade will be a celebration of women and the businesses they have passionately created.

We look forward to celebrating and sharing these talented women with you!
